Coyote or Dog: Incompetence Rules Rescues

There's a millionaire on every corner of urban America running an animal 'rescue.'  Most of them are coining money hand over fist while they have no background or experience in what they are doing.   Like this one in Pennsylvania that wins an award in my book for shear incompetence.

They actually thought they could house a coyote in a cheap-ass wire dog crate. A crate that your average dog could break out of in 15 minutes was supposed to house a wild animal.

The reason why these idiots get away with this is the rise of social media, soft hearts and people with way too much disposable cash to spend. Any story involving an animal no matter how ludicrous has people opening wallets and closing minds.

You gotta give these wingnuts credit though. Even though their place looks substandard, unprofessional and nothing like a 'wildlife rehab' facility should, they gave the coyote his own teddy bear and hand-made blankie. Awwww!

I just ain’t seen that level of love and kisses in a long time.

Here's why crap like this happens. Because of brain dead morons like this.

Coyotes don't know what human love is. They know food. They know hormonal procreation urges. They know death and mayhem. They don't have emotions. They definitely have absolutely no clue what the frack the human concept of HOPE is.

No way they could have predicted that??? My POODLE could escape from that nasty flimsy crate.

Then there are these chicks that think a coyote can't find food on its own and oh, its so cold out. Whine, whine, whine. It's a COYOTE KAREN! They are born in the wild. They live in the wild. They die in the wild. They don't need your heated home, love and teddy bears to survive. As for nursing this wild animal back to health, they don't know what was wrong with it other than they suspect it had mange.

After 600 comments from Crying Karens, finally several voices of reason and sanity came forward that caused the Crying Karens to melt down even further.

Yes, this 'rescue' couldn't tell the difference between a dog and a coyote yet calls itself Wildlife Works, Inc.?

Oh you horrible meanies who are just satisfying your blood lust. You aren’t helping anyone. Where's your compassion the Crying Karen's moaned.

Yes, Nancy this is entirely 100% their fault. If you want to advertise yourself as a Wildlife expert, you'd better be able back up your words with actions. And no, Betty White was a woman of common sense who knew the difference between good animal care and ignorance. She would never have supported this jackassery.

I feel sorry for Mike here. He's trying to be the voice of reason in a world of insanity. Mike they did it for the MONEY. They did it and continue do it for the lucrative tax-free cash that morons like Nancy above throw at them.

They can fundraise off this mangy coyote for years to come and the Nancy's of the world and Lunatic Lindy and Laura here will throw their paychecks at them.

They cry their hearts out for this coyote not giving a damn that if he does have mange, he will pass it on to other coyotes in the wild causing more suffering, not less. Critical thinking skills like that are beyond the 120 character and a picture crowd.

So who is this tool that rescues turtles from West Virginia highways and Pennsylvania coyotes to fundraise off of? It takes a discerning eye to see that their 'Who we are" doesn't actually say WHO they are.

Wildlife Works is Beth Shoaf, a woman who's lived all over the U.S. and worked in various occupations. You have to give her credit, she does run a rather lean organization for this type of idiocy. She ended 2019 with just under $110,000 in the bank 'left over' after all her rescue work. But then again, how many idiots are going to open their wallet to pay her to take care of a turtle she 'rescued' from a road in West Virginia? She claims to pay herself nothing and is only depreciating the cost of her building. That’s right, she’s writing off a building on her taxes, please don't tell me that's her home. Some mysterious unnamed person or person’s is however making $54,820 a year in salary, other compensation and employee benefits.

I'm sure after the Wiley Coyote experience she's just been through that her 2023 financials are going to be a lot more well padded. Nancy, Lindy and Laura are sure to make sure that happens. Teddy bears and all.

The $100,000 grant she got to 'expand partnerships' I'm sure will also help that bottom line.

I do have a few more follow-on questions. Like do all these people living in these subdivisions know that she was keeping a mangy wild Coyote captive right behind their homes? I mean, what if he was rabid? Don't their children's lives matter? What is she, half a mile from the town public library? (actually yes, as a crow flies, she's probably less than a quarter mile from the library. By the roads she's 0.4 miles from it.)

Dodgy situations like this happen because of the Nancy's and Laura's of the world that make it financially profitable for the Beth's of the world to commit these acts of lunacy.   It will only stop when the $$$ dries up.   Only you can put an end to this.   Save Wiley Coyote from the flimsy wire crates of the Beth's of this world. STOP supporting these "rescues."  

Black Market Dog Hauling - Retail Rescue Patsies

For years Retail Rescues have conned average everyday Americans into transporting animals across state lines in violation of USDA shipping rules.  Instead of using licensed USDA transporters, they get 'volunteers' to do it for free, most of the time without valid health certificates.  I personally know people who have purchased RV's for the sole purpose of 'helping to save' animals and be able to ship larger amounts from state to state for resale.  

They have no idea that they are patsies.  

The hot new trend to get around the pending CDC ban on imports from rabies prone countries is to convince a new era of patsies to FLY round trip to foreign countries to bring in single animals.  

This woman, Tina Allen Kolessar, of Ashburn, Virginia is running a GoFundMe to pay for airplane tickets for dog mules to bring dogs into America.  It's no surprise to find that she sits on the board of her exclusive HOA in Loudoun County, Virginia.  The same county that has been all over the news recently when parents have started speaking out about the Marxist take over of their schools. 

From China and India to Iraq, Qatar and Turkey they are flying dogs into such wide flung locations as Los Angeles to Washington, DC.  These foreign dogs are still flooding into America to resell as 'rescues.'  

In China, huge breeding farms are deliberately breeding dogs for the American Rescue Dog Market.  In countries like India and the Middle East, rescues are scooping up street dogs and shipping them to America.   Meanwhile, in places like the Bahamas, they are deliberately breeding puppies to ship to America.  They are not going to cave to the CDC and stop shipping.  Already groups are scrambling to come up with ways to get around import regulations and put a diseased dog in YOUR home.  

You'd think this would be hideously expensive.  You'd be right.  Since Retail Rescue is a billion dollar a year industry they CAN AFFORD IT.   They cry a river on social media and gullible people pay for the plane tickets.   Rescues exist just to provide volunteer planes and pilots for free.  At every step of the way, people are paying for all of this while the Retail Rescue's pocket the cash.  

It's not just individuals who are dog mules - trafficking in black market dogs.  Individuals volunteer their time as pilots to FLY plane loads of dogs around under the USDA/CDC radar.  Here's "Wings of Rescue" bragging they have shipped over 5,000 dogs in just 6 months. Pilots volunteer their time, planes, and fuel and Retail Rescue's pocket every dime collected from the dog sale.  It's so insanely profitable that they even shipped 180 cats in a single weekend. 

Retail Rescue's also charter entire planes to bring full loads of dogs for resale.  Michelle Sileo Smith of Puppy Rescue Mission of Celina, Texas admits here that they paid $250,000 to charter a plane out of Iraq to bring dogs to America.  Did you just follow that?   They shipped a plane load of dogs from the Middle East into TEXAS.  She has also imported dogs from Jordan, Syria, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Kosovo, Kenya and other countries.  There isn't a state in this nation that doesn't import dogs from Texas into their state for resale.  Texas is a massive exporter....they always cry a river in Texas about homeless dogs.  Yet a Retail Rescue spent $250,000 to fly dogs INTO Texas.  She's currently begging for volunteers to fly in a shipment of dogs from Saudi Arabia.  Don't worry, they don't stay in Texas.  If you follow her social media, she resells them as far away as North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida. She claims she's doing it 'for the soldiers' but military members are banned from owning pets while in the service.  So to whom did that $250,000 plane load go to? 

BarkinQ of Minnesota and Desert Hound Express Foundation of Germantown, Maryland import from Qatar.  Traveling Tails Dog Rescue - imports from Oman, Qatar, Jordan - ships dogs (and cats) to Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, Pennsylvania. Flight Buddy Turkey imports into Chicago, Illinois.  Omani Paws imports from Oman and Qatar. Al-Rahmeh for Animals imports from Jordan.  

Magnificent Mutts and Meows of Hillside, Illinois imports from multiple foreign countries.  Here's their recent shipments from Lebanon and a brag about all the recent 'donations' of goods they have received from the public in a single day. 

Meanwhile Angels with Pawprints - Kuwait wants you to 'sponsor' the lives of cats they claim to have in their care.   If you send one thin dime to Kuwait you are a blindingly stupid idiot.  Kuwait is literally one of the richest countries on this planet.  Kuwait is so wealthy that there is literally ZERO poverty there.  

At the other end of the globe, here's China Rescue Dogs bragging about writing to the CDC to get an exemption from the temporary shipping ban and listing the 'partners' they ship foreign bred dogs too in 25 out of 50 states.  

In case you don't want to read all of this:  This single importer has 'partners' in Maryland, Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Florida, Ohio, Illinois, California, Oregon, Texas, Nevada, Colorado, Michigan, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Indiana.

Here's the assets on hand for some of those Golden Retriever meat dogs and/or "Turkish" retriever Retail Rescues.  There's gold in them hills. 

Only you can stop this. Contact the USDA every time you see a rescue in your community importing dogs from foreign countries OR over state lines. Filing an online complaint is simple and easy. Contact the CDC and tell them you support the ban and report these individual dog mules and Retail Rescues every time you see them in action. Contact all of your local and federal legislators and tell them you OPPOSE importing "rescue" dogs into your state.  Contact the State Veterinarian for your state and tell them that you oppose shipping 'rescue' dogs into your state for resale. 

Several east coast states have passed laws banning rescues from doing drops in parking lots.   If you see them meeting 'adopters' in a parking lot, REPORT THEM.  

The only way to solve the homeless animal problem is for localities to fix their own problems instead of dumping their problems on another state.  The last thing America needs is 5 million imported foreign bred dogs rife with rabies, brucellosis and other contagious diseases and parasites just so these Retail Rescues can profit.

Celebrating the 4th of July - Civil Asset Forfeiture Style

The gun toting fanatics of the Pennsylvania SPCA are patting themselves on the back this 4th of July.   Nothing says celebrating America's Independence like the seizure of private property and calling for more government regulation.  

The PA SPCA wants you to believe in this sob story they are spinning that the owner 'willingly' agreed to go out of business and sign over 11 beautiful dogs in immaculate condition and their puppies, just before the 4th of July.  This badge wearing, gun toting woman more than likely had something to do with that 'willingness' on the part of these dog's legal owner.  Take a long hard look at that picture.  The woman is an employee of a private non-profit organization that has the authority to wear and use a gun.  

They also want you to believe that this happy good looking well bred dog in the picture was 'suffering' by being owned by an American dog breeder.  

In fact, all of the dogs they stole and pictured in their sales pitch look fat, healthy, well groomed and well socialized.  

In less than 24 hours they raised over $10,000 in just one fundraiser alone and dozens of people are begging them for permission to buy one of the beautiful dogs seized.  Please pick me, please!  They cry.  

Clean coats, healthy weights, bright eyes, high dollar valuable purebreds = civil asset forfeiture for profit.

It will be interesting to see what their total $$$ haul ends up being from this raid alone.

Americans everywhere join the cyber lynch mobs celebrating the take down of another American dog breeder.  They only hurt themselves.  This can happen to anyone at any time.  All it takes is for you to own a valuable animal and YOU ARE NEXT.  

 

Retail Rescue's like this are the new mafia.  A dog is not abused just because its been bred.  Notice how they claim the dogs have been 'freed' from their legal owners.  That's an animal rights terrorist term.

• Take someone's well bred, healthy dogs (cute, fluffy and 'hot colors' is preferred)
• Make up a sob story about abuse
• Put a "donate here" button on every photo
• Raise over 10K in 24 hours

Retail Rescue Stunned By Billion Dollar Loss

Recently, shocking everyone, the CDC finally acted to slow down some of the multi-million dollar tax-free profit being made in trafficking sick and diseased animals. Most Americans aren't aware that up to 5 million dogs (and some cats) are being imported for resale by Retail Rescues nationwide every single year.  

Suddenly facing being cut off from millions in untraceable cash, these groups are scrambling for a campaign to overturn the CDC ban. They have literally lost their money maker.

They want you to believe that the CDC has massively overreacted to only '4 sick dogs out of 1.5 million imported.'

What caused this?

In the past few years, the CDC started issuing reports showing that 1.06 million (that they know about) dogs (and some cats) are flown in every year by 'rescue' groups for resale. The CDC is not tracking the millions flown by private planes and smuggled over the Canadian and Mexican borders. In fact an entire plane was chartered to fly in 500 puppies from the Ukraine to distribute to resellers in Canada and the U.S. 38 of them were dead on arrival, more than likely the case that finally broke the camels back in Canada. The Canadian government has now cracked down on these importers as well. That only leaves the wide open Mexican border, private planes and individuals as their source.

As quickly as governments crack down, these cons find a new way to traffic dogs.   Check out this group that shipped a plane load of Chinese dogs into Los Angeles, California in February to then drive north over the Canadian border to get around the new crackdown.  Some of the dogs pictured are French Bulldogs.  Only the criminally stupid would believe that the Chinese are eating a $3-5,000 dog.  

Secondly, these groups have been caught importing animals affected with brucellosis, rabies, screw worm, Asian ticks, Canine Flu, strep zoo and many other exotic parasites not seen in the U.S. These importers have literally killed tens of thousands of American dogs while they profit. It isn't just '4 sick dogs.'

Most people haven't heard of Strep Zoo but in the past few years there have been deadly outbreaks in California, Texas, Georgia and Wisconsin, all are HUGE Retail Rescue import states. Strep Zoo is a highly contagious bacterial infection that causes the animal to suddenly bleed out. They bleed from their eyes, nose, cough up blood from their lungs and vomit blood from their stomach. Most animals that come down with strep zoo have to be put down if they don't die immediately. It is ALSO contagious to humans.

Cobb County Animal Services in Georgia had an outbreak in 2019. The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) and Pima Animal Care Center in Arizona both had outbreaks in 2018.

“This is a truly terrifying dog disease,” said shelter director Kristen Auerbach. “Infected shelter dogs are often found in the morning, lying deceased in a pool of red after they ‘bleed out’ from their lungs. Often these dogs appear healthy just hours before dying. In the past, entire shelter populations have been culled because of Strep zoo.”

Wisconsin has a surplus of animal rescues because almost all of the 'rescue dogs' in Wisconsin are imports.  ALL. MOST. ALL.  The dogs come from the Bahamas, southeast Asia and Mexico.  They are imported into Texas, Alabama and other southern states.  The cream of the crop is shipped to the northeast which has the wealthiest buyers.  The lower end of the import crop is shipped to the Midwest to destinations like Wisconsin.  Every single time that animal welfare advocates try to stop the import pipeline into Wisconsin, WHS lobbies to stop them.  They don't want to lose their cash cow either. 

Animal shelters are concerned a new state proposal could put thousands of dogs at risk and stop the Wisconsin Humane Society from saving dogs outside the state.

If that wasn't bad enough Retail Rescues are responsible for importing a flesh eating parasite called Leishmaniosis. A zoonitic parasite that can be transmitted to humans.

Recently, veterinarians in the U.S. and Canada have been detecting Leishmania in imported dogs: the disease has been detected in dogs in 18 states and two provinces. Our laboratory received reports of at least 10 in Québec within the span of a year. Soon after, we were presented with a case ourselves: a dog imported with suspected “fight wounds” later diagnosed to be Leishmania.

Meanwhile, several import groups are starting campaigns against the CDC ban. One is China Rescue Dogs who cried a river to the mainstream media. They claim to be saving purebred Golden Retrievers 'meat dogs' from China. They bragged that they shipped dogs to Ohio in May 2021. If you feel so damned bad about Chinese dogs, why don't you move THERE and save them? If American dogs aren't good enough for you, just leave. We don't need you here. 

As for the issue of 'meat dogs' it just doesn't exist. You can thank Marc Ching, convicted felon, for making Chinese Meat Dogs a burgeoning foreign puppy mill market. If you think the Chinese are eating purebred Golden Retrievers for dinner, you need your head examined.

Another Chinese Importer has a petition against the CDC with over 36,000 signatures in 24 hours.

Besides bulk shipments, these groups also use social media to solicit individuals to bring dogs in to claim them as 'pets' to get around the import regulations.  People who have a soft heart but know nothing about what their doing.  They are nothing more than drug mules.  Look at this fool.  He imported a Poodle/Bichon Mix from China and within 24 hours he was parading the dog on the public subway and offering it for public sale to anyone who would give him $500.

BarkinQ (Barkinq Rescue Across the Globe) is a brand new Minnesota 'charity' that solicits every day Americans to individually pickup foreign street dogs and fly them into America for their profit. (largely from Qatar) They collect the donations, you do the work. Their website does not say who is behind this group and specifically says they do not have a facility and you may not visit them. They are NOT registered with the Minnesota Attorney General's Office as a registered charity. This page has instructions on how to file a complaint against BarkinQ.  (BarkinQ traces back to 8570 Tyler St. NE, Blaine, MN 55434 though they claim a mailing address of PO Box 600083, St. Paul, MN 55106)  With all these dodgy red flags, people are STILL flying to foreign countries to be a dog mule and illegally bring a foreign street dog into America.  

The government and local law enforcement have largely given Retail Rescue a free pass for 20 years. They are used to no one looking over their shoulder while they rake in HUGE CASH. I've written extensively over the years about the land, homes, vehicles, fancy vacations and everything else that these people have purchased with your donations. The savvier ones have even purchased for-profit businesses with the cash so if the money pipeline is ever shut down, they have backup businesses to carry on with. (they also wash cash from their for-profit businesses through their non-profits). Reading the tax returns of these groups is an eye opener.

Only you can stop this. Contact the USDA every time you see a rescue in your community importing dogs. Filing an online complaint is simple and easy. Contact the CDC and tell them you support the ban and report these individual dog mules every time you see them in action. Contact all of your local and federal legislators and tell them you OPPOSE importing "rescue" dogs into your state. The only way to solve the homeless animal problem is for localities to fix their own problems instead of dumping their problems on another state.

Retail Rescue Sells Rabid Dog

At the exact same time as the CDC announced they were putting a temporary halt to dog shipments from certain countries because of Retail Rescue fraud, a story of a Retail Rescue selling a rabid dog exploded.  The timing couldn't have been better to showcase just how desperately this action is needed.

The specific variant the dog was infected with took decades to eradicate in the United States, according to experts.

Note:  Canine rabies was eradicated in the U.S. by 2007 but Retail Rescue brought it back in 2008. 

Nationwide, mainstream news outlets ran with the story that 12 people and numerous dogs were exposed to rabies when an imported rabid dog was found in Chester County, Pennsylvania.  They refused to name who did it, once again giving a free pass to Retail Rescue's that endanger American lives.  The highly contagious variant had previously been completely eradicated in the United States.  Now its back thanks to Retail Rescue. 

The dog was one of 34 animals — 33 dogs and one cat — imported by an animal rescue organization from Azerbaijan to O'Hare International Airport in Chicago on June 10.

These rabid dogs arrive in America because the majority of their 'paperwork' is fraudulent.  The United States government has regulations on the importation of animals but most Retail Rescues violate the regulations or submit faked paperwork.  Not only is the paperwork fake, but so are the dog's ages and 'sob stories' attached to them.  Under-aged puppies are frequently declared to be older to make them seem like they were legally imported. 

The 'rescue' the mainstream media refuses to name shipped a plane load of dogs (and a cat!) from Azerbaijan to America. Why is America bailing out the Middle East now? 

The rescue that the mainstream media is giving a free pass to is "Good World Animal Rescue and Protection (GWARP)."  A 1 year old group that exists to ship foreign imported street dogs all over America for resale. 

Unfortunately it will be hard to hold GWARP accountable since its a foreign organization.

The dog shipment landed in Chicago and GWARP quickly resold them. Some sold to families in at least 5 counties in Illinois but at least ten were transported all the way to Pennsylvania and one resold to a family. It was rabid. Another one under rabies quarantine has escaped its home and is RUNNING AT LARGE in Pennsylvania as authorities scramble to try and find it.

Though, is it?  It's funny how many dogs 'escape' and can't be found when rescues are held accountable. 

Now authorities are struggling to figure out where all the dogs went because federal and local governments gives a free pass to these cons and no one is tracking the interstate shipments.  Authorities in New York, Indiana, Illinois, New Jersey, California, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania are now investigating dogs that either ended up in their state or were transported through, exposing Americans to RABIES.  

Meanwhile GWARP is doing damage control.  Check out their jerk assed response to what they did.  

Yeah, GWARP isn't responsible for the temporary CDC ban but they ARE responsible for importing a rabid dog!  Notice how they just sidestep that little inconvenient fact.  That 'inconvenience' can still kill someone since one of their rabies exposed dogs is currently running loose in Pennsylvania.  If you go to their Facebook page, its filled with emotional hysteria about how they are disadvantaged saviors trying to do good.  

Devastated at the loss of profits more like it. GWARP has no U.S. shelters. It is one man, Farid Mansurov, operating a charity that was founded in 2020 that exists solely to import dogs from Azerbaijan to the United States for tax-free profit.

His personal Facebook page contains so much GRAPHIC animal porn that even Facebook won't show you most of it. All posted to get you to open your wallet and given money to a foreigner.  

America, why do you continue to fall for this???  Is it really that important to have THE most exotic 'rescue' backstory on your dog in the neighborhood?  What the hell is wrong with American born and bred?

While everyone likes to talk about the CDC study showing that 1.06 million dogs per year are imported by Retail Rescue, no one is tracking the millions of dogs trucked over the borders (north and south) or flown in on private planes. It's estimated that the true Retail Rescue import figure is more in the range of 5 million dogs and cats per year. The Border Puppy Task Force, operating in San Diego, California estimated back in 2008 that 10,000 puppies are being smuggled per year just through that one border area. All completely untracked. Who knows what disease is in your neighbor's yard.

“We have found puppies stuffed in speaker boxes, screwed into the car door panels and wrapped in blankets with their little legs taped to their bodies and stuffed under seats,” says Captain Aaron Reyes of the Southeast Animal Control Authority. “On one occasion, we found, I believe, a dozen puppies in a plastic container in the back of car. Two of the puppies had already died because of the heat, and all of the others were panting and doing severe mouth breathing. They were cooking in there, and they were about 5 weeks old.” Article on puppy smuggling from 2010.

Meanwhile, GWARP is deflecting and fundraising off Rescue Porn. Check out this dog named Oliver that they are keeping alive for $$$.

Hey, he can stand up now!  Oh, and he has eye sight in one eye.  Now that he can stand....they are going to subject him to chemotherapy.  What exactly is that like in Azerbaijan?  Do they even offer chemo for dogs in that country?  More importantly, why are American's donating money for a feral street dog in Azerbaijan to get chemo?  (and can you prove that's where it went and not into Farid's pocket?) 

Meanwhile after pressure from true animal welfare advocates, the CDC has announced a one year temporary ban on importing dogs from rabies prone countries.  The Retail Rescue market has hit the roof at the potential loss of profits and is floating petitions and other actions against the CDC to give them 'exemptions' from the ban.  

These groups, such as Southeastern Virginia Golden Retriever Education and Training of Virginia, specialize in this crap. They are scrambling to import as many "Golden Retrievers" as they can from Turkey before the ban takes affect and are lobbying legislators to overturn the CDC ban. I've written extensively in the past about the Turkish Golden Retriever scam. It's ALL a scam. They have a GoFundMe raising over $21,000 to help "SEVA GRREAT" ship more Turkish dogs to America.

GWARP isn't alone importing sick dogs.  Numerous Retail Rescues have been caught in the past importing rabid dogs for resale.  One of the biggest screamers about the new CDC regulation are groups like "Puppy Rescue Mission" who got the military focused newspaper Stars and Stripes to run a sob story about how returning service members will be forced to part with their illegal pets. They are counting on you to not know that these types of groups HAVE ALSO imported rabid dogs 'for service members.'  

On June 18, 2008, a mixed-breed dog, recently shipped from Iraq into the United States, was confirmed to have rabies by the Public Health and Environmental Laboratories of the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. A total of 24 additional animals in the shipment, all potentially exposed to the rabid dog, were distributed to 16 states.

Unleashed Pet Rescue of Mission, Kansas imported a shipment of Egyptian dogs in 2019. At least one was rabid. At least one was documented as 'missing' after escaping from the home it was sent to potentially exposing strangers and other animals. As usual, all the dogs had 'records' of having been vaccinated for rabies.   It wasn't the first time.  Several plane loads of dogs from Egypt have contained rabid dogs over the years.   2017 bought three separate cases of rabid dogs imported (2 from Egypt, 1 from Thailand).  In 2015, a Retail Rescue imported a shipment of 8 dogs and 27 cats.  As if America has a shortage of cats!   One of the feral street dogs was rabid and was resold to a family in Virginia. It had a faked rabies certificate.  The 'rescue' sent animals on to New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland as well.  

Also put at potential risk were the eight other dogs at the rabid dog's new home, along with nine other animals and an additional dog the owner was pet-sitting, according to the CDC.

Another dog imported in 2019 and supposed to go to a family in Connecticut was found to be rabid.  Another way that Retail Rescue's get around import laws is to solicit soft-hearted people to bring in dogs for them.  This is how the rabid Connecticut dog made its way to the United States with faked paperwork.  

An Egyptian-based animal rescue organization delivered four dogs from Cairo, Egypt, to a flight parent (a person solicited through social media, often not affiliated with the rescue organization, and usually compensated with an airline ticket), who transported the dogs to the United States. The flight parent arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York City and, via transporters (persons who shuttle dogs from one state to another), transferred the dogs to foster families; the dogs ultimately were adopted in three states.

This case is particularly noteworthy because the rabid dog BIT the transporter.  Brought to a veterinarian in Connecticut due to its behavior (exhibiting signs of rabies) it bit the veterinary technician who tried to take a blood sample.  Ultimately this case caused a multi-state investigation as authorities had to trace down everyone (and any other animals) who were exposed to any of the 4 dogs.  From the baggage handlers at the airport to the staff at the veterinary clinic where the dog died.  All of them put at risk so a Retail Rescue could profit.  

I urge you to contact the USDA, CDC and your legislators and tell them that you SUPPORT the CDC ban.  Retail Rescue is going to be lobbying hard over this next year to get exemptions from this regulation.  Only you can stop them.
