Reaching Out For Help - the Whispering Pines Poodle story

This is the story of the destruction of the Whispering Pines Poodles at the hands of a vegan animal rights extremist.
River's orphaned puppy

As I approach the 10 year anniversary of the destruction of the Whispering Pines poodles at the hands of an animal rights extremist and the release of my next book, I'd like to walk down #MemoryLane

Picture the scene 10 years ago. While I struggle to raise the puppies and bottle feed them AND work a full time job and care for the other dogs time ticks by. With the battle to save the lives of River's puppies, cleaning up after Snowmaggedon is pushed to the wayside. Who has time for that?

I'm hit in cross fire in the poodle world. Some are sympathetic over River's loss, but others who hate me for various reasons (I know their dirt) attack me and crucify my reputation.

A local woman in Maryland comes forward. The wife of a doctor. She's runs the Poodle Club's rescue network. She's been using rescue work for years to buy her way into the Poodle Club of America. At the same time PCA has been under fire for closing their ranks. The current leadership has been accepted little to no new members for a long time. She wants in!

They know who I am. I've been publishing a newsletter promoting the multi-colored poodle for years. Just over 3 years ago Jacklyn Hungerland and I got into a public sparing match over her 'better dead than bred' stance for the m/c poodle. If you were 'in' dogs, you knew who Jacky Hungerland was. I was the nobody who dared to stand up to her in protest.

Clutch the pearls and pass the smelling salts.

This lady in Maryland reaches out to me to make me an offer... they will take care of everything for me. River's puppies will be saved, they will give me all the help I need to recover. Everything is free. I only have to agree to a couple of minor things and this lady will swoop in and save the day for me....

I must agree to spay and neuter every poodle I have.

I must agree to NEVER breed a poodle again as long as I live.

I must agree to end my public support for the m/c poodle.

It's a deal with the devil. I say no dice. They say, war on.

River's owner is also furious at the loss of income from River's death and we spare over how much money I have to pay her.

I'm too exhausted and busy raising River's puppies to notice that I'm being stalked and observed in my home. I don't know I'm on the edge of losing everything.

I don't know that River's co-owner; a fruitcake in California (Maggie Laney) who is determined to 'make her mark' in dogs no matter what; and a nutcase in Pennsylvania who reports every competitor who beats her in the show ring to PETA, are conspiring to sell me out to the animal rights movement.

The Pennsylvania woman, Lucy Tyler, is in a murderous mood. She conspired to steal a show dog from a breeder in Texas and illegally registered him with a fake name with the United Kennel Club. I knew the inside scoop of what she had done. I made sure the Texas breeder became aware of the situation and had the facts of where her dog was. The breeder went to court and got an order to get her dog back and had the police visit Tyler's boyfriends home. 10 years later, this titled Grand Champion lives with his breeder still. Back where he belongs. With his lawful owner. Lucy Tyler knew I had helped reveal what she had done.

Some days I come home from work and my voice mail is filled up with messages from poodle breeders warning me that Lucy Tyler has been issuing numerous threats against me.

All three are conspiring to sell me out for revenge, not because they care one bit about my dogs.

I have no idea of the rising storm gathering on the edge of my vision. I'm too busy raising, bottle feeding and grooming 9 orphaned poodle puppies to have time to look up.
